Newegg Notebook of the Week: Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5010

Every week Newegg drops the price of one their machines and features a “Notebook of the Week.” This week’s special is the TOSHIBA Satellite L505D-S5010. This basic system has a little more power than their Satellite L505D-S5986. It’s got a 15.6-inch widescreen display, a 2.0GHz AMD Processor, 4GB RAM, and a 250GB hard drive. You’ve got a DVD burner optical drive and Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Operating System. Newegg is selling the L505D-S5986 for $450; that’s $150 off the usual $600 price. There’s no additional cost for shipping.

User Summaries
The L505D has 28 reviews with a 4 egg rating on Newegg. This machine is suited to general everyday computing; not intense gaming or multitasking.

Positives: Most are buying this machine for multiple uses like gaming, music and software applications, and graphics design. The integrated graphics card will play games like World of Warcraft and Doom 3 and high settings but this machine really isn’t suited to gaming at length. The LCD screen is bright and looks good; the keyboard is easy to use and actually has a num pad! Most people that fit runs Windows 7 well and is very very quiet.

Negatives: It can get a little warm. Battery life is less than average at about 1.5-2 hours tops. The sound quality is a little sub par. The system will speed up once you remove the Toshiba bloatware.
