Apple Macbook Pro: Best Buy’s Most Popular Business Laptop

Let’s a take a quick skim over Best Buy’s small busines laptops. In this section you’ll find a variety of laptops made by Sony, HP, Toshiba, and Apple. Let’s zero in on the Apple Macbook Pro because it has the most number of reviews. The Apple Macbook Pro MC373LL/A is the most popular business laptop because of it’s easy to use and has superior build quality. Unfortunately, high-end quality comes at a price! It costs $2,199.99! People often ask me why Mac’s are so expensive. Simple answer? With Mac’s you get what you pay for. Apple charges so much because they build systems with the highest end components. Buy a Mac and you’ll discover that they often last 7, 10, or 15 years before they wear out. You spending more on the front end but won’t need an upgrade for at least five years. If you don’t need a new system every 2 or 3 years buying a Mac can actually save you money in the long run.

The MC373LL/A comes with a 15.4″ widescreen LCD display (1400 x 900 resolution), a 4 core Intel Core i7 processor (8-way multitasking power), 4GB of DDR3 RAM (expandable up to 8GB), and a 500GB (5400rpm) hard drive. Your graphics card is the extremely powerful nVidia GeForce GT 330M that comes 256MB video memory. Apple includes a iSight webcam, wireless N networking, and built in media reader. The laptop weighs 5.6 pounds, measures 1″ thin, and of course comes with the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard preinstalled. Battery life is 4.5 to 5 hours; too bad that spending $2,100 doesn’t give you a system like the Toshiba T235-S1352 which has an 8 hour battery life. As mentioned above, the MC373LL/A costs $2,199.99 at Best Buy and is available as a store item. Read the rest of this entry »

New Macbook has 10 Hour Battery Life

Yesterday Apple released the new Macbook. Looking on the outside reveals that there’s no physical difference between this newer refresh and the previous system…all the glorious changes are inside!  This new machine features a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and the newest Nvidia graphics card (the GeForce 320M). The previous-generation MacBook had a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and used Nvidia’s GeForce 9400M graphics card. The two minor changes to the processor and video card boosts the overall battery life by an additional 3 hours; this newest Macbook now claims a 10-hour battery life. Read the rest of this entry »

Toshiba T135-S1309: For the Business Professional On the Go

t135-s1309-1 Remember the old days when laptops were cumbersome, heavy, and had 2 “stellar” two hour battery life? Well those days are long gone. This past summer Intel released a new brand of processor called a CULV that changed the face of mobile computing. Instead of guzzling power it these new CPU’s “sip” from the power source. What does that mean? It means that now laptops get phenomenal 8, 10, and 12 hour battery life! You can literally go all day without having to plug in your machine. More freedom is always good.

I just bought the Toshiba T135-S1309. It’s a 13.3″ Ultra Thin CULV laptop that gets about 8 hours battery life.  The T135-S1309 comes with fairly speedy 1.3Ghz dual core processors, 3GB of RAM, and a spacious 300GB hard drive. The screen is bright and beautiful, ultra thin (1″), and only weighs 3.9 pounds! I’ve found the keyboard very easy to type on; the touch pad is somewhat average but functional. This ultra thin comes with all the basics: wireless N, webcam, card reader, LAN networking, and 3 USB ports. The only things missing are onboard Bluetooth and an optical drive. Most software be can installed via the internet (or external DVD drive) so optical drives really aren’t needed these days. Bluetooth is a nice feature to have but not absolutely required in my opinion. Read the rest of this entry »
